Anabaptism at 500

Looking Back,
Living Forward

The five hundredth anniversary of Anabaptism in 2025 gives the church a unique opportunity to celebrate and dream. MennoMedia, an Anabaptist publisher, wished to commemorate this milestone event by creating a suite of products to achieve those ends. Each resource will offer spiritual inspiration, connection, education, and invitation to the Anabaptist community and to the broader Christian church. Our studio was approached to brand this major initiative, particularly for the combination of our specialized skill set and deep understanding of the Anabaptist perspective.

Goals

After the successful launch of the Voices Together Hymnal project, MennoMedia began to contemplate the next major initiative they would pursue in advancing their mission to engage faith communities and individuals in going deeper with thoughtful Anabaptist resources to enrich Christian faith in a complex world.

They knew they wanted to give the both the project and its various products a strong visual presence and thus needed a strong new brand to do this. They looked to LightBox to provide a broader skillset but still have an understanding of Anabaptist values and vision.

We deeply appreciated our collaboration the whole LightBox team. They listened carefully; responded patiently to our questions; and produced a beautiful logo and branding elements that perfectly captured the spirit of our project. We were very pleased with the relationship and with the outcome.

Outcomes

MennoMedia had already begun the process of early promotion when they approached LightBox to brand the Anabaptism@500 initiative. There were some immediate needs, including a video to contextualize and announce what was coming, but it was important to engage the branding process. For MennoMedia, working in a more measured and deliberate way was worth the wait as the reception to the brand and the larger initiative has been immensely positive and excitement continues to build toward the final product launch in 2025.
